Happy Thanksgiving!

This photo textured with kk_touchof-1 and kk_dollard_softandgentle.

We are celebrating Thanksgiving this Thursday in the United States.  It is a day we spend with family eating too much turkey, watching football (our game has a ball with pointy ends) and the next day shopping until we drop.  We also spend time being grateful for all we have.

The Pilgrims were the first ones to mark this occasion.  They were just grateful to be alive and have food to eat.  I am grateful for both of those things as well as many others, a warm house, running water, medicine, my list goes on.

My favorite part of Thanksgiving is getting together with my family. My family lives a few states over, so I don’t see them as often as I would like.  This makes it all that more special when we do see each other.  The stories of, ‘Do you remember when?’ come out.  We laugh.  I love the unbridled belly laughs that send tears down my face.  It is wonderful to spend time with those I love.

I am grateful this Thanksgiving for all the charming gardeners in my life who make my soul blossom.

I hope you have many things to be grateful for this Thanksgiving and have charming gardeners in your life to share them with.

Thank you for stopping by!
Have a wonderful Thanksgiving weekend and safe travels!

Thank you so much for your comments.  I am having issues with my site.  Three comments were published and now no comments are being published,  although I am seeing the comments through blogger.  Hopefully I will figure it out soon.  Happy Thanksgiving!

Old Brown Bottle

This photo was textured with kk_cora, kk_frosted and kk_violet.

I came across this quote in Brene Brown’s book The Gifts of Imperfection.  I like it, the book and the quote.

The old brown bottle my husband found in the woods.  My daughter asked if I was going to clean it up and take pictures of it.  I said yes.  After I thought about it for a while, I changed my mind.  The bottle was perfect the way it was.

Alice

This photo textured with kk_teatime.

Last week I read several lovely blogs which talked about books, some had beautiful images as well.  So when I was picking up some of my daughters books, this beautiful edition of Alice In Wonderland was begging to be photographed.  I searched my house for props and came across this cute tea cup and unique tea infuser.  Then came the vase and flower, all the sudden the book became part of a whole instead of the subject.  Funny how a creative whim changes as I go along…

I don’t remember reading Alice and Wonderland when I was a child, although I have watched a few movies based on Alice and Wonderland.  I enjoyed the movies.  A books is always better than it's movie; maybe I should put it on my nightstand.

Flea Market Finds

This photo was textured with kk_totalgrunge.

My daughter and husband love to go to the flea market and find ‘deals’.  He looks for tools and she looks for old jewelry to turn into something new.  Neither one of them really need another tool or piece of jewelry, but the search is part of their fun.

I was not very interested in flea markets at first.  I didn’t want to buy things I really didn’t need that would just collect dust and become clutter.  After a few visits though, I started looking at the items for sale differently.   I realized what a great place to find a new photo prop.  There are all kinds of old things that would look great in a picture.  Old bottles, doilies, an old scale and this old Coke-a-Cola crate are among a few of my finds.  I now have fun searching for new ‘old’ finds with my family.

This sunflower was the last sunflower standing from last week’s Friday Finds.  I had imagined them in an old milk bottle when I bought the sunflowers, but found a blue vase first.  This week I got the milk bottle out and looked at other flea market finds to see what would look good together.  The old Coke-a-Cola crate and some dark fabric seemed to give an old time look.  I added a grunge texture and made a look that reminds me of something that would be sitting on a counter in a general store.  So different from last Friday!
