For The Love Of Books

‘You know you’ve read a good book when you turn the last page and feel a little as if you have lost a friend.’  -  Paul Sweeney

‘Reading is dreaming with open eyes.’  -  Yoyo

‘Fill your house with stacks of books, in all the crannies and all the nooks.’  -  Dr. Suess

‘Some books you read.  Some books you enjoy.  But some books just swallow you up heart and soul.’  -  Joanne Harris

I love books.

My love of reading started with Laura Ingalls Wilder’s Little House on the Prairie.  It was like opening a time portal and escaping into another world.  I still love historical fiction, Midwife of Venice being the last one I enjoyed.  If I am in the mood for magic, The Night Circus or A Discovery of Witches wiil do the trick.  A good cookbook doesn’t just have recipes but also food for the eyes,  The Smitten Kitchen Cookbook and  The Oh She Glows Cookbook have precisely that.  Of course I have read a few photography books, The Art of the Photograph and Shooting with Soul being the latest.

So many books, so little time….

Today I am joining Kim Klassen’s Texture Tuesday.  My images are textured with Kim’s textures sonnet overlay and dollard soft and gentle.

I am taking a summer blog break in July while spending time with my family.  I will be posting again the beginning of August, hopefully with some good stories and photographs to share.

Thanks so much for stopping by!!
Have a great summer!!

  1. Yes, I heart books too :) Love these book images, so beautiful!

  2. I haven't read the Night Circus yet, but that is on my very long list of books to read. Love books and love reading for all those same reasons. My husband just sent me an article about the importance of reading out loud to your children when they are young, something we always did, amazing what a difference it makes. Here is the article if you are interested http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2014/06/24/parents-read-to-children_n_5522762.html

    Lovely greetings,

  17. I'm just catching up on some blog reading, and so pleased I stopped by. I love to read, love real books, pictures of books, and cookbooks are some of my most favorite books. I agree, the best cookbooks are those that not only give recipes but tell a story, too. Your photos are beautiful, simple and imaginative.
