The day didn’t go as we had hoped. We were expecting clear skies and endless views while driving down the Pacific Coast Highway in California. Needless to say the weather didn’t cooperate and instead of clear skies we saw a blanket of fog.
The surfers didn't seem to mind the fog and the chill in the air. I loved the old fence and
a VW van always deserves a photo. It turned out to be a very nice adventure.

Love, love the photo of the fence post and the quote - perfect in every way. So glad you didn't let the fog keep you from taking pictures - the diptych is the essence of beach.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous-ness! ♥ The fence photo is fab, and the quote too. The rusty Volkswagen van is so full of character, and the beach photo so serene. :))
ReplyDeleteSuch Gorgeous pictures, blanketed in the beautiful hazy fog - natural texture. Love these so much!!
ReplyDeleteYou handled the weather beautifully!
ReplyDeleteYour images are lovely - love the rusty blue VW! I love pictures with soft and hazy fog.
ReplyDeleteThat is a drive I want to do at some point in my life, fog or no fog.
ReplyDeleteLovely images.
ReplyDeleteIsn't this highway just gorgeous? The fog, however, is there often. I live close to Highway 1 and I never get tired of it. Beautiful photos!
ReplyDeleteToo bad about the fog - but it did make for some beautiful photographs. I love that first one!
ReplyDeleteHello Michelle,
ReplyDeleteI just noticed that you are following us at Red Rose Alley, and I wanted to follow you as well. I could really relate to this post as my husband and son are surfers. I live in California also, so I'm sure I've seen some of the same lovely places as you have. Your pictures are so pretty today, and the quote is wonderful.

Michelle,
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure if it went through or not, for some reason I am having a hard time with blogger right now. It's so frustrating, but I will check back later.
Have a sweet day. Your blog is filled with simplicity, and I appreciate that.

Lovely -- and nostalgic. I love the shot of the fence and the perfect words with it. That drive is incredible, no matter the weather!
ReplyDeleteLove the fence photo and quote!! Is that a feather on the fence post?
ReplyDeleteLovely fog on the coast. I miss it. Great feather on post. California surfers are all a little nuts. My nephew is one of them.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful....simple and beautiful! Fog helps to create great atmosphere..and the feather is also such a simple item, but has a lot of impact in the way it subtly catches the eye.
ReplyDeleteYeah-the CA coast can be finicky. But you managed to get some great shots.
ReplyDeleteYou found some wonderful images in spite of the fog (or because of it). Love that VW, it looks so West Coast 60's, and your fence image perfectly illustrates that great quote.
ReplyDeleteFog improves landscapes as far as I'm concerned:) These are great!
