Top ten repeated comments this past week:

It is so beautiful!
Look at those colors!
The sky is so blue!
Look at that light!
Oh...wow.  (in a reverent voice)
Oh...Wow!  (in an excited voice)
A picture just doesn't do it justice.
The rhododendrons are HUGE!
(I was the only one saying this, over and over, with the same enthusiasm
on the last day as I had on the first day.)
I could stay here all day.
Just one more shot...

How many times were those comments repeated?  I would estimate at least 1,200 times, because that is how many pictures I took!

My friend, Debbie, asked if I wanted to go with her on a last minute trip to North Carolina to see the fall colors.  I hesitated...there are so many things I needed to do.  I couldn't possibly take off for a few days, leaving behind my family, chores and projects.  Then, luckily, I realized all those things will be there waiting when I get back...so I went.  And am I ever glad I did, the colors were beautiful and I had a great time.

We walked through the woods, visited waterfalls and took a short trip on the Blue Ridge Parkway.  It was all so beautiful.

Debbie's son visited with us too.  He is a professional photographer.  (Can you imagine being paid to take pictures?)  It was great being able to take pictures with fellow photographers.  I could take my time...no worries about holding everyone up.  I also learned from them, just watching them gave me new ideas and different ways to approach a shot.

We spent our days taking pictures and when the sun went down we looked our pictures over, editing some, laughing over others.  They were the kind of days when you forget to eat lunch because you are so focused on what you are doing (pun intended :), lose track of time, are exhausted at the end of the day and happy about it all.

I am not sure what I will do with so many images, or why I even take so many images.  All I know is that I love how I feel when I take pictures.  It lights me up and I am going to follow that wherever it may lead...

Be forewarned...I have many pictures and you will be seeing fall pictures here probably up until spring. :)

I have missed visiting my blogging friends while I have been gone.  I hope to catch up with everyone very soon.  I so appreciate your thoughtful comments. :)

Thank you so much for stopping by!
Have a great day!

Michelle

  1. Fall is surely one of my favorite times of year. I don't see much of it here in the desert though so I have to go elsewhere to find. Luck has it I can also find it in beautiful blogs like yours. That first one is "gosh so beautiful" as all are. Have a beautiful weekend.

  6. Autumn colors are so magical, and breathtaking, aren't they? We photographers can't help but make one more click on the camera "just to be sure" we have captured all the beauty of Autumn, all dressed up and sporting for we humans to enjoy. I'm so happy to see you took up the offer to visit NC with your friend, and an amazing photographer. How special! You are fortunate to have had that time. I love how yellow, green, orange and reds all blend together. Beautiful photos...will be waiting for more next time.

  7. Good for you realizing that all that stuff will still be there and you went with your friend. And you hit the nail on the head and I think all photographers would agree with your words "All I know is that I love how I feel when I take pictures." And what beautiful photos these are.
