A Long Weekend

'There is always a sunrise and always a sunset and it's up to you to choose to be there for it,' said my mother. 'Put yourself in the way of beauty.'  -  Cheryl Strayed, Wild: From Lost to Found on the Pacific Crest Trail

How far would you drive in a weekend to 'put yourself in the way of beauty'?

I think we drove to our limit this past holiday weekend.  We went to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina...a ten hour drive from our house.

We combed the beach for treasures, shopped and ate.  My daughter and her friend actually got in the heated pools.  John and I were content to sit next to the pool playing cards, napping or reading.  What more could you ask for?  :)

Remember to 'put yourself in the way of beauty' wherever you happen to be today. :)
(That is my new favorite quote.)

Thank you for stopping by!
Have a great day!

Michelle

  1. If I didn't live next to water, I would drive ten hours to get to it.

  2. Thank you for these tranquil beach shots. It's snowing here in CO. I'll be traveling through many states to get to the beach in May - well worth it!

  4. That sounds divine! Myrtle is great and your photos speak a thousand words (and I like that you used the rule of thirds in all your photos!) {P.S. I have flown overseas for a weekend trip before so don't feel bad. Did you all stay at a B&B?

  5. In our younger years we drove 10-11 hours to get to Lake Michigan and our favorite village. It was so worth it, and from your stunning photos, it was worth it for you as well! I love the quote also! Happy weekend Michelle!

  10. Ten hours of driving are worth it I think. A weekend with so much beauty can feel like a short vacation. It's wonderful and so good for both body and soul.
