The Last of the Fall Colors

"Autumn shows us how beautiful it is to let things go."  -  unknown

I kept looking out the window as I was washing the breakfast dishes.  I wanted to get outside.

A few weekends ago, we visited Tennessee.  It was dark when we arrived, I had no idea the colors of the leaves until the next morning.  There were a lot of leaves down, but the ones that were still up were gorgeous.

And this morning...there was...fog...

If I could have picked the weather for the drive home, I would have chosen a dark blue, cloudless sky as a backdrop for the last of the Smokey Mountain fall colors.  But as luck would have it, the drive back home was rainy and foggy.

John randomly exited the highway and drove a down a little two lane road, which didn't really seem to go anywhere except to more beautiful views of the fall colors...mixed with fog...

I also found this little caterpillar.  Isn't there an old wives tale about the color of  caterpillars and what the winter weather will be like...

Here in the US, we will be celebrating Thanksgiving next week.  If you are celebrating Thanksgiving, remember to save room for dessert and count all your blessings, twice. :)

Thank you so much for stopping by!
Have  a wonderful Thanksgiving!

Michelle

  2. I know what you mean about wanting the blue skies with the autumn leaves - but the light coming through the fog in these photos is stunning. I think I prefer way you captured the vivid colors with the pale gray background!

  3. The colours are gorgeous, something to remember. Splash of colour - if only in one's mind - may save the day! :)

  8. You still have some Autumn color left, as we do. The leaves here are still hanging on, but I noticed they are swiftly falling, and wondering when the trees will be bare. These are such lovely pictures, and love that wee caterpillar.

    Happy Thanksgiving to you, Michelle.
