This was my Grandma's perfume bottle and handkerchief. My sister found the pair and thought I would like
to take pictures of them. She was
right.
Twenty years later, memories of Grandma still put a smile on
my face. Each time I drink pop from a glass and the fizz hits my nose I think of her, because pop was a special treat only at
Grandma's house. Playing croquet is another
time I think of Grandma, I learned to play in her backyard. We made oranges with cloves stuck in them one
Christmas, and now they always remind me of grandma too. I hope someday, in the very distant future, I have a grandchild to make memories with...
I hope you had a wonderful Christmas. I enjoyed my Christmas with family, the break always goes so fast. We did not have a white Christmas, but this morning I woke up to about 4 inches of snow on the ground. School is cancelled and my daughter gets to sleep in, so much for getting back in the routine of things. I will have to venture out with my camera later to capture what winter has created for us.
Today I am joining Kim Klassen's Texture Tuesday. My images were processed in Lightroom using
Kim's preset prairie and in PS
Elements using her textures waterfront7_magic and gift.
Thank you for stopping by!!
Have a great week!!
Michelle
So special and loving. My grandmother was very special to me as well.
ReplyDeleteWhat exquisite photos and sentiments, Michelle. A really touching post. I feel exactly the same about my grandmas. All the best, Bonny
ReplyDeleteI can tell you are going to make one very special grandma, Michelle! This is so lovely, and the bottle and handkerchief are the perfect pair for a photo. I can see all of these printed and in an album, maybe with a special pocket for the handkerchief. I have some of my grandma's and put them in a scrapbook page with pockets, so I can still take it out and hold and feel it. So special and lovely!
ReplyDeleteSo so pretty what a priceless piece. I don't remember either Grandmother they died before I was born but I would treasure memories.
ReplyDeleteGosh...love that perfume bottle such beautiful detail. We had 6 inches when I got up this morning. I was surprised that schools were not canceled. I am hoping to get out this afternoon as well. We shall see.
ReplyDeleteIt is so nice to have those special memories of your grandmother and I love the last quote. Your images today have an antique feel to them.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photos with such wonderful, priceless memories! Thanks for sharing. The quotes are among my favorites.

and handkerchief against the rich color of the roses ... such beauties !

Sylvia
So pretty - that perfume bottle is gorgeous and so is the handkerchief. Lovely and touching post too.
ReplyDeleteMichelle, that is one of the prettiest perfume bottles I've seen, I love it! You know, I collect perfume bottles as well. Don't have too many, but the ones I have are unique. I smiled when you mentioned the oranges with the cloves stuck in them because my sister used to have this in her kitchen and it always smelled so nice. The bottom right picture in the collage is gorgeous. Your grandma's memories will pleasantly be with you forever.
ReplyDeleteWishing you peace and lots of love in the new year.

ReplyDeleteBeautiful perfume bottle. I never knew my grandparents. My maternal grandparents lived in Finland and my paternal grandmother died when I was 4 and do not remember her.
ReplyDeleteHi Michelle, your images and the colors are gorgeous... Your sister knows you so well, so thoughtful of her to give your these pretty items, knowing you would create beauty with them! Memories of loved ones are precious ... Worth to celebrate.
ReplyDeleteSuch a beautiful perfume bottle, and it goes so well with the pretty handkerchief. It is lovely to have such nice memories of one's grandma. I do have them, too.
