Friday Finds

kk_DayDreaming

"For most of life, nothing wonderful happens, if you don't enjoy getting up and working and finishing your work and sitting down to a meal with family or friends, then chances are you're not going to be very happy.  If someone bases his/her happiness on major events like a great job, huge amounts of money, a flawlessly happy marriage or a trip to Paris that person isn't going to be happy much of the time.  If, on the other hand, happiness depends on a good breakfast, flowers in the yard, a drink or a nap, then we are more likely to live with quite a bit of happiness."  -  Andy Rooney

I found a few things to put a smile on my face this week...

We had a lovely holiday weekend with family at the lake, boating, making ice cream, sitting by the fire... the older I get I realize how special these times really are.

I was at the Antique Mall (I think they recognize me now) and found a sugar bowl with a 'M'.

The book Hans Blomquist In Detail: Inspiring Ideas For Creative Interiors arrived at my doorstep (check it out here).  It is filled with still life beauty. I haven't made it through the whole book, I am savoring each page.   My leaf and peony image was inspired by the book.

My parents are coming next week for a visit and I will be taking a little break from the computer... but I will be back the following week.

Today I am joining Kim Klassen's Friday Finds.

Thank you so much for your visit!
Have a great day!

  1. I think the sweet lid would have sold me on the use bowl. Getting away with family is such cherished time. Love the tape on the stems-very clever and interesting to look at. TGIF Michelle

  2. Love this post Michelle! The Andy Rooney quote ...so good! I need to write that one down just to read now and then and share it. Love your new silver with your initial. So pretty! And the floral still! Yes please! I need to take a look at the book too. Have a wonderful week and enjoy your family!!

  3. So agree with the quote but one thing he mentioned about Paris not making you happy. I agree to a point but leaving next week for Paris and I think it will make me very happy at least for the time I am there. I know what he meant and so agree with it all, happiness isn't in things but in family. I am going with family. :) Love that little sugar bow and it makes the perfect prop for you. The arrangement is gorgeous, and the still life inspired by your new book is awesome with showing the scale of the peony.

  4. I agree totally with the wisdom of the quote you've chosen to open with, Michelle. It's better to enjoy what we have, and appreciate the richness of the every day rather than to constantly chase rainbows. Although in my crazier moments I do indulge the odd rainbow too. Your family weekend sounded wonderful: boating and homemade ice cream would totally do it for me. I love your photo: the pink of the peony and the green of the foliage are a lovely colour combination, and Kim's filter works really well to soften the overall effect . Wishing you a lovely break with your parents. All the best, Bonny
