Where Troubles Melt Like Lemon Drops

"...Where troubles melt like lemon drops
High above the chimney tops
That's where you'll find me..."
-  Over The Rainbow

In my car,
driving with my windows and sunroof open
hand out the window and my hair whipping in the wind
singing to the radio

On the beach,
having sand between my toes and my skin crusty with salt
searching for treasures
swimming with fish

Outside,
walking on a trail with the sound of crunching leaves under my feet
being on a boat...any boat...anywhere
climbing rocks
feeling the warm sun on my face
capturing beauty in a picture

In my kitchen,
discussing the day with Megan and John
sharing a good meal and bottle of wine with family and friends
noticing the 'fairy dust' in the sunlight coming through the window
talking with a friend
overhearing kids laugh and shriek in another room
smelling coffee

In my backyard,
walking barefoot through the grass
roasting marshmallows
smelling basil, chives, lavender...
swinging on a tire swing
listening to the sound of frogs and crickets at night
combing lavender plants with my fingers

Anywhere,
if I am...
realizing what is truly important
understanding most of my troubles aren't really as big as I think they are

Where are you when your troubles melt like lemon drops?

Thank you for stopping by!
Have a great day!

  3. All your favorite spots will melt away your troubles. My favorite spot is sitting on my porch swing...and I can't wait until good weather so we can get it out. Give me a cold glass of tea and a good book and...no more troubles.

  7. Michelle, I just loved this post. From the wonderful bag of lemon drops to the poem, which I have heard a million times and would never have thought of doing this and to the great list you put out there...I'm going to think on this and see what I would say...very interesting.

  8. What a wonderful and inspiring list, Michelle!
My troubles melt like lemon drops
in my car when I'm going home from work, singing to the radio,
in my husband's arms, feeling his warmth and care,
when laughing with my children, enjoying their presence
when writing my poetry and reflections…
How long the list could be! Thank you for making me realize that.

  9. Lovely! I need to open my sunroof more this year, and speed down soon hills with the wind in my hair, now that it is long enough to blow :)

  12. Lovely blog. My troubles melt like lemon drops when I'm soaking in a hot fragrant bath after a session at the gym/when I'm modelling play doh with my granddaughter/when watching waves lap on to the beach.
