I like to look at food pictures in cookbooks and magazines. I love the dark and moody ones as well as the
light and airy ones.
Some of my favorite cookbooks at the moment: Adventures in Chicken, Near & Far, The Homemade Kitchen and Oh She Glows Every Day.

The dark wood and the white marble both appeal to me. I have dark wood for a photography background, but always thought
my dreams of white marble pictures would never happen because I don't have a
kitchen with white marble counter tops...enter Ink & Elm Backdrops. I was searching Etsy and found their shop
full of vinyl backdrops. I chose the
Classic White Marble 3x2. (See it here) I have a table
3 feet by 2 feet the backdrop fits on perfectly. They have so many options I am not sure I
will be able to stop with just one backdrop.
I do like how the background turned out in my photographs, and it is
certainly cheaper than remodeling my kitchen. :)
My husband, John, has been eating gluten free, so
I thought I would surprise him with a treat. I found a gluten free recipe for madeleines at Art of Gluten Free Baking. (I
know...all these cookbooks and I find a recipe online.) They tasted great and I think the madeleines are
very photogenic. :)
Do you have a favorite cookbook you love to look at?
Thank you for stopping by!
Have a great day!
Michelle
I love the different styles as well - both dark and light settings. I don't have a favorite as it changes all the time. Love your marble look!
ReplyDeleteThe marble background is exquisite. I've been looking for some backgrounds so went to their site. You've inspired me to do more indoor photography. Your Madeleine's look so tasty. Bet hubby was happy!
ReplyDeleteI have tons and tons of cookbooks and I am always prowling Pinterest for recipe ideas. Fabulous backdrop and baking!
ReplyDeleteThanks for all the links I will check them all out. I love to look at cookbooks always been a passion of mine. Thanks for the gluten recipe also. My granddaughter has Celiac Disease and it has been so hard cooking for her. I know I will send this site to my daughter. Lovely food photos Michelle. The background looks awesome. Last Christmas my daughter gave me a marble baking board I think she got at Williams and Sonoma and it is heavy but it is also functional for baking and taking photos. I must say I do love it even though it is heavy to move around. Have a beautiful day friend. :)
ReplyDeleteOh my, what a great background, Michelle, it looks like real marble !
ReplyDeleteLove cookbooks and magazines too ... I have a lot of them :-)
Such a nice surprise for your husband, those madeleines look delicious
and I so love your pictures, gorgeous composition !
Mmm, would love to have coffee with a madeleine now ... :-)
Have a nice weekend,
Sylvia
I love cook books too. I look more for the photography than the recipes anymore! I like the idea of the photo back drops you bought...I'm going to check them out. I love being gluten free. I wish I had more time to dedicate talking about it on my blog. Ideas have been circulating in my head how to revamp my blog to include a segment on being gluten free on a regular basis. Love the shots Michelle.
