25 Random Facts About Me

1.  I am a middle kid. :) (That's me on the right)
2.  My mom dressed me up as the 'Big Bad Wolf' for Halloween one year and my sister was 'Little Red Riding Hood'...even though she was older and bigger.

Orchids

"You can become blind by seeing each day as a similar one.  Each day is a different one, each day brings a miracle of its own.  It's just a matter of paying attention to this miracle."  -  Paulo Coelho

Last week a friend and I went to Franklin Park Conservatory in Columbus, Ohio to take pictures.  They were having their annual orchid show...so many beautiful orchids of all kinds.

My family and I took a little time out to play this past weekend.

We took a drive through rural Ohio and visited an Amish Bakery.  I love their pretzels!

Cooking Failures?

"This is my invariable advice to people: Learn how to cook, try new recipes, learn from your mistakes, be fearless, and above all have fun."  -  Julia Child

Have you ever had a  colossal failure in the kitchen?  I have had many...but two come to mind first.

When I was a teenager, my mom asked if I could make meatloaf for dinner.  Sure.  The recipe called for one cup of chicken bouillon.  I had no idea what that was.  I looked in the pantry and found a little glass jar that said chicken bouillon cubes.

My Word For 2016

Choosing a 'word for the year' is similar to a New Year's resolution, but way better.  A word for the year points me in the right direction.  It is a little whisper of guidance during times I am stuck and wonder what to do next...oh, I will  (insert my word).

There is also no failure with a word for the year.  If I forget, I try to remember next time...it is always ok to begin again.
