Fins to the Left...

"I love people who make me laugh.  I honestly think it's the thing I like the most, to laugh."  -  Audrey Hepburn

We were laughing uncontrollably.

My teenage daughter, Megan, was pushing down on my head so my bottom was anchored into the sand.  (Getting sand in places sand shouldn't be.)  I was lifting my feet up so I could capture the feeling of 'calmly floating on the water' with my point-and-shoot camera.  I was bobbing around, arms flailing in the air, so Megan pushed my head down harder, assuring me it was the 'best' way to keep me stable.  (I feel it may have been retribution for something.)  Eventually, still laughing and possibly even shrieking...I did get this picture.

We were a sight.

I didn't realize what a sight we were, until the next day, at a different beach, a very nice older gentleman stopped us and said hello.  After talking for a little while, he told us how he and his wife were sitting close to us the day before at the other beach...and they both 'got a kick' out of us laughing in the water taking pictures. :)

Sometimes it isn't about the picture...but the memory of when the picture was taken.

I am joining Sarah at Paisley Rain Boots and Lee at Sea Blue Lens for Scene and Story, sharing a favorite picture from the previous month and telling the story behind it.  Give them a visit and check out the other stories while you are there.

I am also joining in over at Wordless Wednesday.

Thank you so much for stopping by!
Have a beautiful day!
Michelle

  1. It is almost always about the memory and the story that it stirs. I would have loved to have been there to see that too. I am sure she was getting you back for something :)

  3. This is such an eye-catching picture in bright blue and turquoise! By the sound of things, it was a really funny moment that you shared with your daughter! It would make a great holiday postcard with the inevitable message: "Wish you were here" scrawled across the back!

  8. Michelle, this is the reason for the story part of Scene & Story. The photo is lovely and it does look like you're just relaxing and floating. The story adds so much to the image, because now I can "see" the bigger picture. Thanks for the laugh to start my day!

  10. Michelle, this was a wonderful story, and how funny that the couple saw both of you the day before laughing and having fun. Love this picture, and so glad you spent some memorable times with your daughter. I just had this uncontrollable laugh that you mentioned with a friend recently over the smallest thing, which can sometimes be the silliest. : )

  11. How sweet that the couple stopped to share. That would have been funny but also nice to see a mother and daughter interact so sweetly.

  15. The story behind the image, the emotions that were being expressed adds so much more to the meaning and the delight of, not only the image itself, the memory it holds. Yes, indeed, Michelle!! Sounds like a FUN vacation!!! And what a great shot for point & shoot camera!! Makes me wish I had been there with you and your daughter, laughing and playing in the sun & surf. Treasured times together. :)

Happy Mother's Day weekend to you!! <3
