"Butterflies
can't see their wings. They can't see
how truly beautiful they are, but everyone else can. People are like that as well." - unknown
As if a
moth to a flame,
I feel a
pull.
Uncertain
What has
drawn me closer.
Looking
through the viewfinder
I see it.
Frame it.
Hold my
breath.
Press the
button.
I feel a
flutter in my chest.
What
captured me
I have now
captured.
Why do I
take pictures?
I collect
evidence of a beautiful world.
I can show
you,
If you
would like.
Prove to
you there is still beauty among us.
Quiet
beauty,
Often
drowned out by the noise of chaos.
Beauty that
can only be seen if you look for it.
But I
assure you,
It is still
here.
Everywhere.
I found these beautiful butterflies last week at the Krohn Conservatory in Cincinnati, Ohio (you can check them out here). It is
hard to take a bad picture of a butterfly. :)
Thank you so much for stopping by!
Have a great day!
Michelle
Be still my heart. That first shot is of a Monarch near the end of her life. You can see it in her wings. Evidence of her long journey...beautiful, beautiful post Michelle
ReplyDeleteSuch a great quote today. And so true. Why are we are own worst crirtics while others see such greatness in us? Love your photos today.
ReplyDeleteThese are just gorgeous Michelle. I saw a quote this morning from a Japanese photographer and it spoke to me which in a way goes with what you are saying. He said "Capturing isn't for showing. But recording as a journal." That is what I have always said I wanted my blog to be about and he hit the nail on the head with his quote. Butterflies are so fleeting but if you have patience to catch so beautifully as you did it is worth the capture. Enjoy your weekend.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely gorgeous! I love the thought about not seeing one's own wings. How true.
ReplyDeleteHello Michelle, What truths and such fantastic photos to admire. I do find that the people most like butterflies exude a quiet peace that gives them loveliness. As a person who takes photos, I'm always aware of these small but significant moments that I'd like to remember.
ReplyDeleteGreat quote and words so beautifully written, Michelle !
ReplyDeleteLove your photos ... the details are amazing !
Have a nice weekend,
Sylvia

ReplyDeleteSo totally love your words and images Michelle! Indeed we often do not see our own beauty but I think capturing beauty helps us with that in so many ways.
ReplyDeleteMichelle...I'm finally catching up...Hopefully this summer I will have more time to do what I love doing...LOL
ReplyDeleteThe butterflies are stunning and you have captured them beautifull. I also, always love coming and reading your beautiful words...this is a wonderful post.
