Lavender And A Spoon

'As Rosemary is to the Spirit, so Lavender is to the Soul.'  -  unknown
'Always throw spilled salt over your left shoulder.  Keep rosemary by your garden gate.  Add pepper to your mash potatoes.  Plant roses and lavender for luck.  Fall in love whenever you can.'
-  Alice Hoffman, Practical Magic
'I love lavender-both the color and the smell.  And the sound (be quiet so you can hear it).
-  Jarod Kintz, Whenever You're Gone, I'm Here For You

I am sure I have mentioned it before... I love lavender.

I just came across the quote from Jarod Kintz.  It made me smile.  I don't believe I have ever heard a sound from one of my lavender plants, and I have spend a lot of time with them.  When it gets warm again I will have to listen closer...

I feel like I moved slightly south.  Our winter weather in SW Ohio hasn't been so bad 'yet' this year.  Yes it is cold, but we only got a dusting of snow with the last storm.  We were suppose to get more but the temperature was too warm so it rained, and rained.  The kids were very disappointed, they were hoping for a snow day.   I am not complaining.

Today I am joining Kim Klassen's Texture Tuesday and the class Be Still 52.  The assignment for Be Still 52 was 'spoons', I used one of my flea market favorites.  I started processing my images in Lightroom with Kim's preset dreamlike, with a few changes, and added Kim's texture wednesday in PS Elements.

Thanks for stopping by!!
Have a great week!!
Michelle

  3. Gorgeous shots, Michelle! The details on your spoon are very pretty, and the lavendel, the rustic table, and the white, pure clots, makes a lovely, timeless feeling!

  4. That is an awesome spoon! And I love lavender, too ... it just doesn't seem to do well in our garden. We're not that far south of SW Ohio so I wonder what it is. Any suggestions would be welcome.

  5. Wow, Michelle, this is stunning! I too love lavender...last spring I set out a new plant, since my other white lavender was getting old and very woody. I'll be sure and take it with me when I move. Your flea market spoon is so ornate and gorgeous!! We haven't had such a bad winter either in Indy. No complaints here.

  6. I love lavender, and really need to plant some in my garden - the butterflies love it just as much as I do. I went to a lavender fest this past summer and bought some peach and lavender salsa.....and oh how yummy!

  12. Beautiful. Wonderful spoon. I wonder . . . if you sit in a patch of lavender . . . and are very quiet and still . . . and listen to what you hear all around you . . . and really listen to the sounds . . . maybe the lavender can be heard . . . from the breeze that is flowing through it.

  13. I too love lavender. The spoon is gorgeous, and I couldn't help but notice the "chippy" substrate. A wonderful composition.

  15. Lovely photograph, with two of my favorite things: lavendar, and silver flatware. Your beautiful sugar spoon looks like a pattern called "Elmore" that was patented in 1905. It's one of my favorites.

  17. aahh, lavender is one of my favorite scents too, Michelle. I wonder if it really makes a sound when you are still and listen. Your spoon looks like an antique, so pretty. These are lovely photos today, and I can smell the lavender from here. :~)
