The Ocean

I love the ocean.

I love taking parts of it home with me, seashells, sea glass or rounded stones.  They are reminders of family time, carefree days of just being together hunting for ‘treasures’.  We may find the perfect piece, or none at all, it doesn’t matter.  The fun is in the hunt.  Walking up and down the beach, toes at the edge, eyes on the beauty in and above the ocean, and hands juggling finds or ready to snatch up something pretty in the water.

A day spent with salty kisses and sandy toes is a good day.  My little bowls of shells here and there throughout my house transport me back to those days and puts a smile on my face.

Today I am joining Kim Klassen’s Texture Tuesday and the class BeStill 52.  The assignment in the Be Still class was something tallish with a printable in the background.  My images were tweaked in Lightroom and textured in PS Elements with Kim’s texture tuesday.

Thank you for stopping by!!
Have a great week!!

Balance

“Life is a balance of holding on and letting go.”  -  Rumi

I love rocks, especially round ocean, or river, tumbled stones.  I like how they feel in my hand.  They remind me how powerful nature can be, and at the same time how peaceful it is at the edge of calm water.

St. John, US Virgin Islands

Several places I've visited have piles of stones stacked on top of one another called cairns.  Sometimes cairns are made to mark trials.  Other times people balance the stones just to see how high they can stack the pile, or how impossible they can make it.

Sedona, Arizona

Balancing stones can be tricky.  It takes patience, practice and a little luck, just like balancing life...

Today I am joining Kim Klassen’s Friday Finds.  My finds are a cutting off my Japanese Lace Leaf Maple Tree (who is enjoying our cool summer by growing to the ground), a Ziplock baggie of vacation stones and a one dollar bottle.   My top image was textured with Kim’s textures touch of 1 and may, and I also used her Lightroom preset light and airy.

Thank you so much for stopping by!!
Have a great weekend!!

Where Are You Spring?

If you are ready for Spring to arrive… raise your hand.

My hand is raised, very high.  I am so ready for Spring.  In my part of the world, the last snow storm was kind to us.  The weather man told us we were getting 8 – 12 inches of snow and we only got about 2 inches of snow and some ice.  I will be perfectly happy not to see any more snow until next winter.

Today it is very cold.  Doesn’t Spring start March 20?   I think I will send Spring a reminder email.

I am still enjoying my new porcelain tiles that look like old wood.  They make a great background.

Today I am linking up with Kim Klassen’s Texture Tuesday.
My photo today was textured with the Kim Klassen texture called 0212.

Thank you for stopping by!!
Have a great week!

Light

I took this photo with my big girl camera and used three Kim Klassen textures, 2810, jamal and 0212.

The word photography originated from two Greek words:
φωτός (phōtos), photos for ‘light’
γραφή (graphé), graph for ‘drawing’
Together they mean ‘Drawing with light’.

I love to draw with Light.  I see Light and want to capture it’s beauty.  I chase Light.  I wait for the ‘right’ Light.

I observe Light and it’s endless array of qualities, how Light caresses each subject in a different way, sometimes softly, sometimes harshly. I move to see Light reflected on a surface, or so I don't see it's reflection.

My camera is my tool.  My camera captures the Light it sees.  Different wave lengths translate into different colors.  Different intensities translate into lights and darks.

Photography is capturing the characteristics of Light in a given moment as it falls on an object or objects.  The inspiration for an image may begin with an object, but it is truly is all about the Light.

I took this picture with my iphone and textured it with the Kim Klassen texture 99.

Today I am linking up with Kim Klassen’s Texture Tuesday.  Today’s theme is light.

I hope wherever you are spring is starting to arrive.
Okay, that may be premature, but I still am hoping.
Have a great week!
Michelle
